在美國Arizona州長大的Michelle Branch，出生于1983年7月2日，自小便自學吉他和鋼琴。
在Michelle Branch的14歲生日宴會上，她得到了自己夢寐以求的禮物---自己平生的第一把吉他。此后，Michelle Branch仿佛就和音樂結下了不解的緣分。在一次紐約的演出結束后的后台，Michelle Branch意外見到了歌壇大姐大Madonna，Michelle Branch得知自己早已得到Madonna的賞識。最終Madonna將Michelle Branch這位年輕的才女簽到了自己的Maverick唱片公司。成為繼Alanis Morissette之后第二位由Madonna發掘的新人。
2000年，Michelle Branch曾推出過一張獨立唱片《broke bracelet》，雖然本張唱片在唱片界影響不大，但卻得到与自己同齡的Hanson樂隊的欣賞，在Hanson的一次演唱會上，Michelle Branch成為特邀嘉賓，加入到了hanson的巡演之中。
2001年，Michelle Branch發行了加入Maverick公司后的第一張正式專輯《The Spirit Room》，并獲得好評。其中《Everywhere》和《All You Wanted》成為熱門單曲。
2003年7月，Michelle Branch發行個人第二張專輯《Hotel Paper》。
